On Thursday 3rd June, YouGovStone hosted a panel discussion as part of the SABMiller Globalisation Debate Series. The panel, chaired by BBC Sports Presenter Gabby Logan, provided a succinct briefing on the likely impact of the tournament, from the immediate fiscal benefits to the long term development goals.

The panel: Lord (Paul) Boateng, former High Commissioner to South Africa; Edward Griffiths, Consultant to Organising Committee 2010 FIFA World Cup; Rt Hon Tessa Jowell MP, Former Olympics Minister and Jim Sutcliffe, Director Liberty Life and sports commentator Mihir Bose used the debate as a springboard to explore ideas such as the comparative influence between the FIFA World Cup and the Olympics to more anecdotal evidence of the impact of the recession and ticket pricing economics.
